Solar Eclipse 22 July 2009
The longest solar eclipse of the Century is set to take place on July 22nd, 2009 and is estimated to last nearly 6 and 1/2 minutes long. The eclipse is set to occur about 2:35 UTC time, but unfortunately for our American visitors, it will only be viewable for those who live in South-East Asia and the Pacific. The next partial solar eclipse will occur in January 2010, and the next total solar eclipse is estimated for July 2010. It is also estimated that the next partial eclipse visible from North America will happen in 2011 (one year before the end of the world!).
